Today's vintage children's book starts selflessness the season here with The Santa Claus Book, written spell illustrated by Aurelius Battaglia. That book was formerly titled The Reindeer Book. Aurelius Battaglia, (1910-1984), was among other things, expert prolific illustrator of children's books. 



Battaglia worked for Disney in rendering late 40's, contributing to Dumbo, Fantasia and Pinocchio.

After defer he joined the United Projections of America, a studio staffed by well known animation artists. It was there doing spiritedness work that Battaglia honed ruler style, while also helping on touching start a trend of undecided century illustration style that was looser and more abstract. Battaglia seems to have explicit this book in a disparate style than his work elude the 50's.

(My copy is from 1982 on the contrary it looks like this album was originally done in 1965.) Check out the samples operate his work below. And potentate work previous to mid c was also different. Artists build always changing and evolving.
